Mission:

The Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians (CAPT) is a national organization advocating and promoting the profession of pharmacy technicians and assistants. Our goals as an organization are to:

  1. Promote and educate the public and other healthcare professionals on the scope of practice of pharmacy technicians and their importance.
  2. Advocate for the pharmacy profession as a whole.

Vision:

To be the leading voice in enhancing the profession and empowering pharmacy technicians with the Canadian healthcare landscape by:

  1. Providing professional development and networking opportunities to our members.
  2. Enhancing professionalism through education and collaboration.

The Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians (CAPT) is a member-run organization with a board of directors consisting of ten members, all of whom are Pharmacy Technicians. Our organization is dedicating time to supporting, advocating, and educating pharmacy technicians and support staff in the field.

CAPT was initially formed by a group of four pharmacy assistant students attending Humber College with their teacher's help. In 1983, they applied to Corporations Canada and became a non-profit organization. Since then, the association has grown to operate across Canada, helping to advocate for pharmacy technicians and support staff across the country.

CAPT's mission is to promote and educate the public among other healthcare industry members about the role and importance of pharmacy technicians. We act as advocates for the pharmacy profession. Our website functions as a space for our members to access information and provide resources to training practicing pharmacy technicians and support staff.

Our organization operates based on four core values. These values drive how we work daily and all of our endeavours. Our core values are:

Collaboration
Accountability
Professionalism
Transparency

Collaboration
Engaging the members through communication strategies is important for achieving our mission. CAPT is always seeking new ways to work more efficiently with our members and stakeholders by collaborating closely with them and allowing input on our processes.

Accountability
CAPT assumes all responsibility for the board's decisions and actions and will always incorporate its members' and profession's best interests in our decision. Our board aims to make the best decisions and stay accountable to our members.

Professionalism
CAPT integrates with our members and stakeholders with the utmost respect and integrity for the profession and our members. We pride ourselves on the professionalism used in all of our interactions.

Transparency
CAPT will operate openly and with clarity with its members and stakeholders. We encourage members to ask us questions about the board's decisions, and we will maintain full transparency about our processes and intentions.
